Warm butterscotch and apple sundaes

Apples and caramel are a pairing that just makes sense!

  • Serves 4
  • Less than 15 minutes


  • ½ cup (125g) butter
  • 1 cup (220g) dark brown (muscovado) sugar
  • 1 tub (250ml) cream
  • 2 cans (400g each) PnP pie apple segments, drained
  • 1 tub (1L) vanilla ice cream


  1. Place butter and sugar in a saucepan.
  2. Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add cream and stir thoroughly to combine.
  4. Bring to the boil and reduce for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Once thickened, remove sauce from heat and set aside.
  5. Fill sundae glasses with layers of apples and scoops of ice cream.
  6. Pour over a generous glug of butterscotch sauce and serve immediately.
