PnP Cellular App Privacy Policy

As our customer, your Personal Information is collected and processed in a lawful manner. We will always endeavour to protect this information and hold it in confidence. Personal Information supplied by you while making use of this Service (PnP Cellular Mobile App) is provided voluntarily to Pick n Pay. If you choose to use our Service, then you acknowledge that such conduct constitutes an unconditional, specific and voluntary consent to the processing (including storage) of such information.

This Privacy Policy is complementary to the Pick n Pay Privacy Statement and the PnP Cellular App Terms and Conditions which are accessible on the Pick n Pay website unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy. It is also complimentary to the trusted third-party’s Terms of Use which will be accessible via the app when completing the self-RICA process.

Your Consent and Agreement

BY USING THE APPLICATION AND RELATED SERVICES:

  • YOU CONSENT TO THE COLLECTION, STORAGE, USE AND TRANSFER OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION, WHICH INCLUDES (If using Self RICA services) YOUR BIOMETRIC DATA, BY Pick n Pay and Contactable;
  • YOU FURTHER AGREE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD AND ACCEPT THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, AND TERMS OF USE; AND
  • BY SUPPLYING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION, AND USING THE APPLICATION AND RELATED SERVICES, YOU CONSENT TO THE TRANSFER OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION BY THE COMPANIES TO COUNTRIES OUTSIDE OF SOUTH AFRICA.

Information Collection and Purpose

When signing up for this Service, the information you supply is used not only to facilitate the Services provided via the PnP Cellular App, and self RICA services (should you wish to utilise the self-RICA services) but also to support the wider Smart Shopper program. When signing into the PnP Cellular App, you can to link the app to an existing Smart Shopper account profile or create a new standalone PnP Cellular account profile. You agree that you will provide accurate information to us and keep it updated (when it changes), and that you will not create a false identity or account for anyone other than yourself.

The PnP Cellular App collects and uses Personal Information. For instance, when you sign up, you are required to provide your PnP Cellular mobile number to facilitate purchasing of airtime and data, or for OTPs (one-time passwords).). You will also be prompted to provide further details such as: First Name, Surname and Email Address.

The PnP Cellular App also allows you to self-RICA your SIM card. You are required to provide the following personal information, such as your South African Identification Number or Passport Number (non-South African Citizens), your Physical Address and taking a photo of yourself (selfie), and location. This process is facilitated by a trusted third-party. Please make sure that you read their Terms of Use prior to making use of the self-RICA Service which is accessible when taking up the service.

We may collect information from or about the device when you install our PnP Cellular App, depending on the permissions you’ve granted. The permissions requested when installed may relate to the Camera i.e. to enable taking and uploading a photo or location-based information for the self-RICA process.

All Personal Information will be securely retained and only used to fulfil the purposes listed above. We will take appropriate, reasonable technical and organizational measures to prevent loss of, damage to, or unauthorized destruction and unlawful access to or processing of your personal information. This may include the transfer of data outside of South Africa (due to the nature of our technologies being used). Information associated with your account will be kept until your PnP Cellular or Online profile is deleted, or unless we no longer provide the Service to you.

Securing Your Account

You are required to create a password to secure your account. You are responsible for making this password a strong, complex and unique one as well as to keep the password private and secure. Do not share this password with anyone. You are responsible for all actions processed through your account. If you suspect its misuse or that your account had been compromised, you must report it to our Customer Careline (0860 30 30 30) as soon as possible.

Children’s Privacy

The Services do not address anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 18. In the case we discover that a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will immediately delete this from our systems. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Use of cookies – when using Self-RICA service only

Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. We use cookies to understand and save your preferences for future visits and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future. We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our site visitors. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our business.

Some cookies we use are from third party companies, such as Google Analytics, to provide us with web analytics and intelligence about our sites. These companies use programming code to collect information about your interaction with our sites, such as the pages you visit, the links you click on and how long you are on our sites. This code is only active while you are on the Application. Changes to This Privacy Policy

PnP may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
